Transforming Life Community

TRANSFORMING LIFE COMMUNITY
We believe generational change is possible through Christ.  The Transforming Life program is a 12-18 month residential program for women and children who have been abused, addicted, homeless, previously incarcerated or at-risk.  The goal of this community is to give women and children the tools they need to transition back into society in a positive and self-sufficient manner.  It is a holistic program that offers classes in every aspect of life.  Women with children can learn how to be better mothers.  Women whose children have been taken away will have an opportunity to reconnect with their children in a safe environment.  Case management is the first step in determining the needs of each family and a plan is jointly developed.  Below are the program elements:

Safe Residence and Provision of Basic Needs

  • Laundry facilities
  • Round-the-clock security
  • Clothing
  • Hygiene & personal items
  • Referrals for medical and other needs 

Case Management

  • One-on-one
  • Regular team meetings
  • Transition assistance 

Spiritual Formation

  • Pastoral encouragement
  • Spiritual formation classes (i.e. Basic Doctrine, Bible Study Methods, Prayer and Journaling, etc.)
  • Church referrals and attendance
  • Weekly Bible Study groups for women and children 

Social Development and Wellness

  • Social development classes (i.e. Conflict Resolution, Anger Management, Boundaries, etc.)
  • Therapeutic service (i.e. counseling – individual and group, referrals)
  • Mentoring
  • Volunteer activities
  • Community partner sponsored activities, events and outings

Addiction Recovery

  • Addiction recovery classes (i.e. Celebrate Recovery, Life Recovery, AA, Addiction Awareness, etc.)
  • Relapse prevention
  • CR 12 Step
  • Codependency Support Meetings (Celebrate Recovery, Life Recovery, AA, etc.)

Life Skills

  • Life skills classes (i.e. Finance Management, Sewing, Cooking, Swimming, etc.)
  • Work therapy
  • Career services (i.e. work readiness and assessment, interviewing, resume development, etc.)
  • Community currency education (includes savings incentives)
  • GED and college prep classes
  • Individualized tutoring (academic and life skill education)
  • Health and fitness training 

Family Restoration and Wellness

  • Nurturing parenting class
  • Becoming a parent of love & logic class
  • Family education classes (i.e. co-dependency, domestic violence, marriage, etc.)
  • Visiting rooms
  • Licensed daycare (future)
  • System of rewarding positive behavior for the children
  • Afterschool activities and programs for children
  • Arts education (i.e. music, creative arts, drama, movement, etc.)
